Baker, Flourish Craft Bakery - Watford (day & night shifts)

Main purpose of job:
To prepare and bake a broad range of bread, buns and rolls to the Company’s highest standards of quality, to meet each day’s requirements for wholesale, online shop and café customers. ideally each baker will train towards being able to work every section of production, including scaling and weighing ingredients, mixing, shaping and baking/ ovens.

As part of the team, ensure consistently impeccable standards of food hygiene and health & safety are maintained at all times.

Position Reports to: Head Baker, Production Manager

Salary: £14-16ph days/ £15ph nights

Hours: 40 hrs per week (5 days out of 7 - including weekends)

Main Responsibilities

As part of the bakery team, you will product a broad range of breads and baked goods including artisan breads, rolls and muffins, following traditional and modern recipes.
Develop skill to undertake all aspects of the bread production process, including weighing and scaling ingredients, mixing, kneading and shaping the dough, and baking in ovens.
Follow Company recipes, methods and baking requirements at all times to ensure that the highest standards of production are maintained.
Work to food safety and health & safety regulations and Company recycling procedures at all times, addressing immediate concerns and raising any issues with the Head Bakers or Production Manager, Complete H&S and SALSA records regularly and ensure ll company procedural records are maintained and up to date.
Assist in unloading deliveries, checking quality, resolving or reporting any discrepancies and ensuring ingredients are stored correctly in accordance with food hygiene requirements.
As part of the team, tidy up and clean throughout the shift and ensure that the bakery areas are clean, tidy and swept at the end of each shift. Help with regular deep cleaning to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and health and safety.
Assist in the daily cleaning of equipment and undertake regular maintenance, completing minor repairs and reporting any issues to the Head Bakers or Production Manager.
Support the Packing Team, assisting with the slicing of loaves and packing of products whenever necessary in accordance with delivery notes instructions.
Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as reasonable required by Company management to meet the needs of the business.

Required Skills
Knowledge of breads and artisan bread baking
Preferably experience of working in a very busy, vibrant artisan bakery, preparing the highest quality products in volume
Proven skills in all aspects of bread production or the willingness and ability to learn
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety and food hygiene
Good communication and team working skills
Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
Good command of English and understanding of number/ numeracy
