Cavan Bakery - Nightshift Bakery Supervisor

Location: Hersham, Walton on Thames Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (5 days across 7 evenings, and night shifts as required)

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Bakery Supervisor to join a busy and growing artisan bakery. You will play a key role in leading and supporting the nightshift team, ensuring high-quality production standards, smooth operations, and staff development while maintaining the bakery’s reputation for excellence.

You will act as the operational lead in the absence of the Head Baker, driving efficiency, problem-solving, and team performance while supporting continuous improvement across the bakery.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and motivate the nightshift bakery team to achieve operational targets and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members.

  • Provide clear direction and guidance during your shift, managing workload allocation and ensuring smooth workflow.

  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to drive consistency and excellence.

  • Encourage a collaborative and positive team culture, fostering engagement and accountability.

Production & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are correctly stocked, rotated, and stored according to company standards.

  • Monitor output, quality, and efficiency to ensure all products meet established specifications.

  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and maintain quality standards.

  • Manage ad-hoc operational challenges during shifts, including troubleshooting machinery or production issues.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards across the shift.

  • Conduct routine checks of equipment, production areas, and storage facilities to maintain compliance and safety.

  • Promote a culture of safety and operational discipline among team members.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Previous experience in bakery production

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges.

  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational abilities.

  • Experience using bakery or food production machinery is desirable.

  • Commitment to quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
