CBA Visits ADM Milling UK in Corby
Last week, a team from the Craft Bakers Association, including CEO Karen Dear, President Ivor McKane and Marketing & Social Media Coordinator Amber Moore, were delighted to visit ADM Milling UK at their Corby site for a special industry showcase.
The event brought together representatives from across the milling and baking sector, including the Federation of Bakers and UK Flour Millers, creating a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen relationships and explore how the sector can continue to support future generations.
A Warm Welcome
The day began with an introduction to ADM Milling UK led by Site Manager Mark Betteridge, who shared the history of the Corby site and an overview of its recently expanded B mill. The presentation highlighted ADM’s commitment to technical innovation, product quality and investment in improved production capabilities.
Innovation and Technical Expertise
Guests then joined Anna Perz, Product Development and Applications Manager, and Gareth Edwards, Head of Sales – Craft & Speciality, for a technical session that explored ADM’s approach to product development, applications and evolving market challenges.
The session included insights into ADM’s laboratory and test bakery facilities, along with training programmes designed to help customers respond to changing consumer trends and regulatory requirements such as HFSS. Anna also shared how ADM’s innovation concepts are continually refreshed to support the ever-changing needs of the baking industry.
Mill Tour
After lunch, visitors were taken on a guided tour of the Corby mill led by Senior Production Manager Scott Reid. His detailed knowledge and clear explanation of the milling process received excellent feedback from attendees.
Karen and Amber found the practical insights especially valuable, noting how the tour deepened their understanding of the precision and expertise behind flour production.
Spotlight on Sustainability
A standout part of the day was the chance to view one of ADM’s new electric heavy goods vehicles up close. These fully electric trucks are part of ADM’s growing fleet, delivering regeneratively sourced flour to customers across the UK. Supported by new high-speed charging facilities on site, the initiative demonstrates ADM’s ongoing commitment to sustainable, future-focused logistics.
Industry Collaboration
Throughout the day, both hosts and visitors shared ideas on how the sector can work together to raise awareness and support new talent entering the milling and baking industries. Discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration, education and career pathways to help inspire the next generation.
We extend our thanks to ADM Milling UK for hosting us and for providing such an engaging and informative experience.
