AB Mauri and BAKO Group announce Aromaferm® wholesale distribution partnership for the UK market

Effective as of (day-month-day-year), AB Mauri and BAKO Group are pleased to announce an exciting partnership, which in the wholesale space, will see BAKO list and exclusively distribute two AB Mauri Aromaferm® lines nationally, as part of their already comprehensive bakery supply portfolio.

Aromaferm® is the dedicated AB Mauri global cereal fermentation and sourdough ingredient platform, encompassing a portfolio of ready-to-use liquid, paste and powder based products, which can be easily suited to recipes for a wide range of bread and baked goods. The new partnership in this category, is formed on the back of an already-existing, successful relationship between the two businesses and opens up greater availability to craft and mid-size bakers.

As UK consumers have continued to heighten their overall interest in speciality baked goods, breads with a sourdough claim have surged forward in retail sales terms. In a recent UK focussed survey, taste, texture and health were the top three drivers for consuming sourdough bread, and bread made with sourdough.

When creating in-house sourdough, the biggest challenge is allowing enough time for the required fermentation processes to take place, whilst managing onward consistency at scale. Conversely, ready-to-use products can be processed in multiple ways, whist ensuring that efficiency in recipe and inventory is maintained. Yet can still create and deliver unique flavour profiles, making baker’s breads individual and distinctive.

The partnership, which revolves around Aromaferm® Fermora Wheat, an active chilled liquid and the Rye Ferment 200 inactive powder, has been in the planning for a number of months. This has seen the AB Mauri and BAKO teams work closely in a number of areas, inc. overall value proposition, key targets, product training, sales and marketing support, across all five of the BAKO depots.

Andrew Dinsdale, Commercial Director, AB Mauri, commented: ‘The mutual respect that AB Mauri and BAKO Group hold for each other is reflected in the long-standing trading relationship we enjoy today. With established AB Mauri manufacturing and technical expertise in what is clearly a growing category, coupled with the significant national coverage and distribution held by BAKO Group, we look forward to making Aromaferm® more widely available to UK users and realising potential of this great partnership.

David Armstrong, Group Commercial Director, BAKO, added:

"The growth of Sourdough has been spectacular in recent years. Consumers choose sourdough for its superior taste, texture, and perceived health benefits. However, for many bakers the complexity of the long fermentation process has been a barrier to entry. We are delighted to be working with AB Mauri as our chosen partner and their great expertise in and this area will allow our customers the opportunity to participate in this growing category"
